I’ve covered sports—professional, college, and high school—for more than 40 years across various publications and outlets. I’ve published 28 books (and counting), most of them focused on sports history. Over the years, I’ve written thousands of articles for magazines and newspapers. I especially enjoy writing feature articles because they bring out the personal side of the people I cover.

I also find a lot of fulfillment in helping others tell their stories. My wife and I have been married for 44 years. We’re proud parents of two grown children and love spending time with our three beautiful granddaughters. Outside of writing, I stay active in my church and community, and I sing with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus.
